About
A Vibrant, Growing Faith Community
St. Bede is far more than a church building. The parish is a lively and dynamic Roman Catholic faith community with a rich history in Pittsburgh’s East End and a bright future centered around its shared faith, growing congregation and energetic parish life.
Everyone is Welcome
St. Bede has more than 800 registered households, from single people, couples and young families to older families, empty nesters and senior citizens. All contribute to the parish’s hum of activity, from long-time traditions to new initiatives.
St. Bede Parish thrives under the leadership of Fr. Edward Bryce, assisted by Sr. Mary Elizabeth Shrei, S.C., who serves as pastoral associate. St. Bede also hosts visiting African priests in residence from the order of the Apostles of Jesus, who serve the parish while pursuing graduate study at Duquesne University.
The parish is named after an English saint renowned for his scholarship. St. Bede School, with more than 300 students in kindergarten through 8th grade, is a point of parish pride as it provides a distinctly Catholic education with outstanding academic achievement.
We welcome visitors at our liturgies and we encourage newcomers to become involved with parish life.
