The Unity Committee works to develop a strong sense of community by strengthening bonds between parishioners. We reach out to all who seek Christ in their lives and wish to participate in the life of our parish.
We work to improve communication within the parish and to provide parishioners opportunities to identify and use their unique talents within our community. We plan activities that engage parishioners and foster interpersonal relationships.
The following is a list of some of the activities of the Unity Committee:
Fellowship Sundays These after-Mass gatherings provide opportunities for parishioners to mingle, strengthen friendships and make new friends. Fellowship Sundays are held several times throughout the year.
First Friends This group of volunteers provides a warm welcome to the new members in our parish. A volunteer is matched to each new family and serves as a friendly face and resource person to answer questions about St. Bede and the neighborhood. The parish volunteer can suggest groups and activities that might interest the new parishioner. The main goal is to make the new parishioner feel welcome! For information about the First Friends program please contact Bobbi Cass.
The Annual Shrimp Boil This fun-filled event is a St. Bede tradition and usually occurs in late winter or early spring. The food is delicious and there is always pizza as an alternative to the shrimp!
The Unity Committee is always open to new ideas and events that can help St. Bede be a warm and welcoming community. If you would like to participate as a Unity committee member or have ideas for strengthening Unity in our parish, please let us know – We would love to hear from you!
