Children’s Liturgy Volunteer
The St. Bede Parish Children’s Liturgy of the Word is provided during the 10:00 a.m. Mass on selected Sundays. Presently we provide the Children’s Liturgy of the Word on the 1st, 3rd, and 5th Sundays of every month between Labor Day and Memorial Day. During Advent and Lent, the Children’s Liturgy of the Word is provided every Sunday. The Children’s Liturgy of the Word is not provided during June, July, and August.
The Children’s Liturgy of the Word program welcomes volunteers. Volunteers lead the children from the sanctuary to the school rooms when dismissed by the presiding priest just prior to the Mass’ Liturgy of the Word. Volunteers help in leading children to the classrooms and then back to the Sanctuary, leading the readings, discussion and prayers. Volunteers are also needed for those quiet yet critical tasks of arranging rooms and reassembling them.
This volunteer opportunity is a great one if you would like your family to join you for the work. All materials for the readings and prayers are provide as well as notes, assistance, coaching, and advice for the discussion.
Carolyn Weber coordinates the program for the toddler through 4 year old group. A team of parents help her with this task. Maryanne Loebig coordinates the program for the children 5 years of age and older.
Each of us has a God given gift. The Children’s Liturgy of the Word would love for you to share that gift. If your gift is reading with expression, please consider volunteering. If your gift is encouraging children to express their thoughts, please consider volunteering. If your gift is welcoming people and encouraging participation, please consider volunteering.
All Children’s Liturgy of the Word volunteers are acting in the name of and representing the church. Therefore, all volunteers must participate in the Protecting God’s Children program and obtain the necessary clearances.
