Religious Education (CCD)
Today more than ever there is an urgent need to give our children a moral and spiritual education. Children are bombarded everyday with temptations which compromise their Catholic Faith. Saint Bede Parish strives to provide the youth of the parish a stellar religious education program which arms them with the knowledge of the Faith. With this knowledge, our youth can live strong spiritual lives in the love of Christ and enjoy the riches of the Catholic Faith.
The program serves parish children in grades Kindergarten through 8th grade who attend public or non-Catholic private schools. The Saint Bede Religious Education program is staffed by enthusiastic and well-trained volunteers from the parish. The Faith is taught using creative and interactive methods under the direction of the latest Diocesan-approved texts and materials. The teachers of CCD are involved in continuing education through Diocesan workshops and CCD certification classes.
The children learn the beauty and the treasures of the Faith each year. In the second and eighth grades, special attention is given to preparation of the reception of several sacraments. Second graders are prepared for the reception of First Reconciliation and First Holy Communion. Eighth graders are prepared for the reception of Confirmation.
CCD classes are offered on Sundays from 9:00 a.m.-9:50 a.m. This allows time for families to attend Mass either before (at 8:00 a.m.) or after (at 10:00 a.m.). A nominal fee of $50.00 per year is charged in support of books and other class materials. Classes are held between September and May (roughly).
We encourage you to take advantage of this program and to encourage your children to know and live their Faith and to grow in the love of Christ. To enroll your child(ren), please contact Shari Fetzko.
The CCD Program is always looking for parishioners who want to teach their Faith and share their love of Christ with the youth of the parish. If you feel called to this ministry, please contact us. All volunteers are required to participate in the Protecting God’s Children program and obtain the necessary clearances.
From our CCD Teachers
“Much of the joy I derive in regularly sitting with children and focusing on the Faith Journey together is that I have come to know that the Church – filled as it is with complexity, difficulty, and mystery – will endure and carry on as these young personalities comprehend and incorporate faith into their emerging lives. What a gift it is indeed to encourage and promote the students’ love, hope, and faith through the teachings of Christ and the Church.”
